I met Catherine and Brian in their home in McKinney where we mostly talked about birth photography. To my surprise, they were also very interested in having me do a maternity session and a newborn session for them. Catherine’s father was a photojournalist in the military, so their appreciation for documentary style family photography was evident.

Catherine was already late into her third trimester, so we scheduled the session for the following week. When I showed up to their McKinney home, their 4 year old son Henry was super excited and bouncing off the walls! His energy was high off the radar! I was there from 6 to 8 to photograph a portion of their evening routine… and let me tell you… never have I ever had such an active 2 hour session! Henry definitely kept us all busy!

The family went straight to the backyard and started their session with bubbles. These had to have been the best bubbles I’ve ever seen! After spending some time outside, we went back inside for popsicles. Once everyone was inside, Henry let loose! He stripped down to his undies and put Justin Timberlake on the TV, and started grooving to the beat. Eventually his Dad joined in and a dance party broke out in the living room!

We moved on to bath time for Henry, all that dancing had worked up a good sweat! When they were filling the tub, Henry and his Mom started creating bubbles with their hands. This was something I had never seen before! I of course commented on how unique and special this was, and Catherine told me her Mom used to do this with her when she was little! <3 Oh how this made my heart so happy! Henry had a blast in the tub!

Next stop was bedtime stories where they somehow managed to read an entire Dr. Seuss book! Followed was a balloon game, you know, the one where you couldn’t let it touch the ground!? Quickly came bed time and snuggles with baby Georgie in Mama’s belly.

I still can’t believe we did ALL OF THIS in 2 hours time!! This is very unique!
