A few months ago, I decided to take a couple of hours and go photograph my Grandpa, an 80 year old widower.

My Grandma had a massive stroke in December of 2012, one month after my husband and I got married. For 7 long months, she suffered. She was flip flopped between the nursing home and the hospital so frequently. At one point we had hope! She was receiving several therapy sessions each day trying to get her to walk and talk… but having to go through so many other health issues and being transported to the hospital and back just took its toll on her.

She finally passed away in July of 2013.

My Grandpa went to visit her every single day she was in the hospital or nursing home. If he missed a day, it was because he was very sick and contagious. After her passing, he went to go visit her at her at the cemetery instead. It’s been 3 years and still today, he makes his morning trip out there.

I made a short slideshow with the photos I took. Grab a tissue. I guarantee you’ll need it.
