The Birth of Reese

Allen Birthing Center

It’s not often I meet a family 4 times at the birth center before they have their baby… actually, it’s pretty rare. Actually… I don’t know if this ever happens, ever! So, I consider myself lucky!

As I was leaving the second trip there, I realized that I needed to get creative in how I transitioned from day to day. This challenged me. Sometimes attending a lot of births, things can get repetitive. But this… you can’t get more repetitive than showing up to the same place with the same family on four separate occasions. How was each day going to be different? How could I show the mood and the feeling each day had? Did I do it effectively? Creatively?

This is when my empath-self shines. each time I met them there, there was a different feeling in the room, a completely different vibe. The first meeting there, the environment was more playful and joyful, and they were cracking jokes nonstop. The second time I arrived was way more serious than the first, and it was a total puke sesh! Poor Mama had an HG pregnancy plus dehydration, which resulted in her vomiting most of the time we were there. (If you’re sensitive to vomiting, here’s your warning) The third trip there felt heavy. The same testing – seeing of she could get the contractions to pick up – the same mental game… and while the contractions were different this time, there just wasn’t any progress. And then visit number four! Her water broke so there was no turning back!

I am so grateful for this family! Sooo proud of them! Through laughter, tears, vomiting, hitting, crying… they were together. It was the most beautiful thing to witness <3 I’m also equally as proud of them for calling me each time and never giving up! When-To-Call is the hardest questions to answer, and they honestly did it so perfectly.

Below is their fusion video! This video is not PG in any way and shows exactly what labor and birth is like.
